INSTALLATION/REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION: Before installing or removing any filter, be sure that the system main power is turned off.

1.

Remove the filter from shipping box and any protective wrapping. Examine filters for damage. If damaged,
contact local shipper for damage assessment.

2.

Store any extra filters in their original package or on a flat surface. Do Not store filters on wire rack or uneven
surface as this may cause damage to the bottom gasket of the filter which may cause loss of suction and/or
whistling.

3.

Depending on the model of Buffalo Filter PlumeSafe Smoke Evacuation System being used, install the
ViroSafe filter into the square opening at the top, back or front of the smoke evacuation system. Be sure that
the filter is seated completely into the opening and that the filter is resting on the bottom plate.

4.

Insert adapter or hose into round filter opening after removing plug. Be sure sealing is achieved. Add any
other adapter, wand, tubing, etc. that will be needed to complete the installation.

CAUTION: If fluid is expected to be introduced into the ViroSafe Filter and/or either smoke
evacuation system, fluid collection devices (BF P/N SCC1001) must be installed with the vacuum
hose assembly. Failure to install a fluid collection device could cause filter blockage and electrical
damage.

5.

Connect smoke evacuator electrical cord into available grounded 120V/50/60Hz (220/240V/50/60

Hz Int’l)

electrical wall socket.

6.

Proceed with the proper use of the smoke evacuation system and ViroSafe filter as outlined in the
Operator/Service Manual.

FILTER LIFE RESET

– TIMED FILTER LIFE

7.

If your PlumeSafe Smoke Evacuator is equipped with RFID Intelligence (label located on top of the filter and
on the smoke evacuation system) and the electronic keypad DOES NOT HAVE A FILTER RESET BUTTON
– the smoke evacuation system will automatically adjust the timer for the correct filter life, proceed to step #9.

8

Some PlumeSafe Smoke Evacuators have a built-in filter life timer of six (6) hours and the electronic
keypad HAS A FILTER LIFE RESET button
. These systems are NOT automatic. After initial installation of
the filter, press the FILTER LIFE RESET button on the membrane key panel and hold for 5 seconds until all
indicator lights are on. After all indicator lights remain constant release button. This will reset the filter life
indicator.

9.

Use the check boxes located on the top of the filter to assist in tracking your filter life after every six hours
(the red filter life reset LED

will “blink” after each six hour period). Simply reset your filter life by pressing the

reset button and holding for 5 seconds to track your next six hour filter life. Once you have checked all
boxes, your filter life has been exhausted and requires changing. Turn smoke evacuation main power off.

10.

Remove the ViroSafe filter from the smoke evacuation system when no filter life is remaining. Dispose of in
accordance with local codes.
