As the desired time setting approaches,

reiease the button and then press repeatediy

to advance one digit at a time.

The Automatic Shutoff Time (ASO) may be
programmed either before or during coffee
brewing. You may aiso re-program the ASO
time when brewing has been compieted. if you
do so, the Grind & Brew™ wiii automaticaiiy
account for any time that has aiready eiapsed
after brewing. For exampie, if you set the ASO
for 40 minutes and 25 minutes have aiready
eiapsed, the Grind & Brew™ wiii shut off auto­
maticaiiy after 15 minutes (40 minutes minus
the 25 eiapsed equais 15 minutes).

Turning off Grind Function
To turn off the grinding function, press the
Grind Off button. An amber LED wiii be
iiiuminated. Then press the On button.

CHANGING THE

WATER FILTER

a. Remove the fiiter from poiybag and soak

in coid tap water for 15 minutes.

b. Remove the water fiiter hoider from

the coffeemaker by iifting it out of
the reservoir area with your thumb
and forefinger.

c. Grasp stem in one hand. Using thumb of

other hand, gentiy press down and puii
toward you. Oompartment wiii fiip open.

d. Piace the fiiter in the hoider and cióse the

water fiiter hoider; you wiii hear a snap

indicating it is in piace.

NOTE: Oaution must be used when inserting

the charcoai fiiter. improper piacement in the

hoider can cause tearing of the fiiter skin.

e. Hoid the fiiter under coid running tap

water for 10 seconds to fiush. You shouid

piace the hoie openings in the side of the
unit directiy under the water stream.

f. Aiiow the fiiter to drain compieteiy.

g. Repiace the water fiiter hoider in the

reservoir area of the coffeemaker, pushing
it aii the way down to the base of the unit,
aiong the reservoir waii.

Note: We recommend changing the water

fiiter every 60 days or 60 uses, more often
if you have hard water. Repiacement water

fiiters can be purchased in stores or by
caiiing customer service or through the Cuisin-
art web site.

MAKING COFFEE

Before you make the first pot of coffee in your
new Cuisinart® Grind & Brew™Automatic

coffeemaker, we recommend operating the
coffeemaker once, using oniy water and a
paper fiiter. This wiii remove any dust or resi­
dues which remain in the system from
the manufacturing process.

1. Fill the Water Reservoir
Open the reservoir iid by pushing the reiease
button and iifting up. Pour the desired amount

of water in the reservoir using the step water
indicator iocated at the rear of the reservoir.

2. Add Beans

Lift the grinder basket iid, using the recess

on either side. Fiii the basket with the desired
quantity of beans.

Use 1 ievei scoop of whoie beans per cup.
For 1 to 4 cups, use Vh ievei scoops per cup.
Maximum capacity for whole beans is 14
level scoops. Do not overfill or the grinder

could malfunction and/or the coffeemaker
may overflow. This is our suggested recipe.
Adjust the recipe to taste.
