Thank you for choosing COMP Cams® products; we are proud to be your manufacturer of choice.
Please read this instruction sheet carefully before beginning installation, and also take a moment to
review the included limited warranty information.

1. Ensure that the snout of the crankshaft is clean and free of any burrs or scratches.
2. Make sure that the lower timing gear is clean and free of any imperfections in the area that

slides over the crank snout.

3. Slide the lower timing gear onto the snout of the crank until resistance is felt.
4. Install a harmonic balancer tool (Part #4920) into the threads in the snout of the crankshaft.
5. Slide the crank gear installation tool over the snout of the crank so that the open end is against

the lower timing gear.

6. Install the washer, bearing, and drive nut onto the harmonic balancer installation tool until it

makes contact with the crank gear installation tool.

7. Using a wrench, slowly tighten the drive nut until the lower timing gear is pressed against the

machined flange on the back of the crank snout.

8. DO NOT USE A HAMMER TO TAP THE GEAR INTO PLACE.
