1. IMPORTANT REMARK

We thank you for trusting in us and choosing our DLA600 adapter unit. In order to get the optimum operation

and efficiency from this unit, it is VERY IMPORTANT - before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully
and bear in mind all considerations specified within it.

We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by our Authorised Technical services.
Do not expose the unit to rain or water splashes, and do not place liquid containers or incandescent

objects like candles on top of the unit. Do not obstruct the ventilation shafts with any kind of material.
There are no user serviceable parts inside the unit.

INTRODUCTION

The use of a 70V / 100V loudspeaker distribution system responds to the necessity of a flexible system that

firstly allows the simultaneous use of different types of loudspeakers with different impedances, power handlings, etc.
and secondly minimises the power loss caused by the conductor resistance in long cable runs.

Basically, the system uses transformers to adapt each loudspeaker to the 70V / 100V line. These line

voltages are achieved either with high output power amplifiers (e.g. 1250 @ 8

) or with smaller power amplifiers

followed by an output transformer.

In order to use conventional medium-sized power amplifiers in 70V /100V lines (e.g. hotels, factories, train

stations, bus terminals, stores, supermarkets, parks, streets… ) it is required to place an intermediate unit between
the amplifier’s output and the loudspeaker line. The DLA600 fulfils this task and offers exceptional flexibility thanks
to its two independent channels for 100V and 70V outputs.

The DLA600 intermediate unit complements ECLERs power amplifiers MPA4-80R, MPA6-80R,

MPA4-150R, MPA4-400R and DPA600, although it’s perfectly suited for other amplifiers with similar
characteristics.

INSTALLATION TIPS

As in many other systems, it’s highly recommended not to reduce the total load impedance below the

minimum admissible impedance. The usual procedure for calculating the maximum number of loudspeakers that a
given line can bear, is to sum the power handling of all loudspeakers and check that this sum is not bigger than the
maximum output power of the amplifier.

For the previous statement to be true, and to ensure a trouble-free operation of the power amplifier,

loudspeakers should be of the highest affordable quality and be installed correctly.

To guarantee an optimum performance of the DLA600, the output power of the amplifier should be as

similar as possible to the selected input power on the DLA600.

If the output power of the amplifier does not match any of the 3 options on the DLA600, connect the

amplifier to the higher rated input on the DLA600. For example, if you have a 200W amplifier, you should connect it
to the 300W input on the DLA600.

Keep in mind that if these power figures do not match, the output voltage of the DLA600 will not be exactly

100V or 70V.

If you use a higher output power on a lower rated DLA600 input, you run the risk of saturating the

transformer and poor system performance.

Always refer to the indications printed on the panel when connecting the inputs and outputs to the DLA600.

These indications are reproduced at the end of this manual together with two installation examples.

The DLA600 features lateral rack ears that allow, thanks to its standard 19’’ width (482.6 mm) and 1 unit

height (44mm), installation in normalized rack furniture.

CLEANING

The front panel should not be cleaned with dissolvent or abrasive substances because silk-printing could be

damaged. To clean it, use a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral liquid soap; dry it with a clean cloth. Be
careful that water never gets into the unit through the holes of the unit.

improvements in manufacturing or design which may affect specifications.
