UNPACKING AND SET-UP

• Remove the main unit, speakers, remote control, and AC power cord from the carton and remove all

packing materials from the components. Important: The AC power cord is not attached to the main unit
during shipment. Make sure the power cord is not accidentally discarded with the packing materials.

• We recommend that you save the carton and packing materials, if possible, in the event that your unit

ever needs to be returned for service. Using the original carton and packing material is the only safe way
to prevent your unit from being damaged in transit.

• Remove any descriptive labels or stickers that may be attached to the top or front panel of the main unit.

Do not remove any labels or stickers from the bottom or back panels.

• Remove any small strips of tape that may have been used to prevent the CD door from opening in transit.
• Unwind the AC power cord and extend it to its full length.
• Unwind the FM Lead Wire Antenna (on the back panel) and extend it to its full length.
• There are “Dummy CD” display cards in both CD players. These “Dummy CDs” must be removed and

discarded before loading your own CDs in the player. Refer to the instructions for “Playing Compact
Discs” on page 10.

PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE:

This model is equipped with non-skid rubber 'feet' to prevent the product from moving when you operate the
controls. These 'feet' are made from non-migrating rubber material specially formulated to avoid leaving any
marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture polishes, wood preservatives,
or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber 'feet' to soften, and leave marks or a rubber residue on the
furniture. To prevent any damage to your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self-
adhesive felt pads, available at hardware stores and home improvement centers everywhere, and apply
these pads to the bottom of the rubber 'feet' before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.

SPEAKER CONNECTION

1. Place the speakers in convenient locations on either side of the unit. Usually a

distance of four to six feet between speakers provides the best stereo effect, but
this may vary depending on the size and acoustics of the room.

2. Locate the Speaker Terminals on the rear of the unit and connect the solid red

wires to the red (+) terminals and connect the black wires to the black (–)
terminals.

3. To connect the speaker cables to the terminals, slide the Red tabs upward and

the Black tabs downward to open the terminals. Insert the bare wire of the cable
into the terminals, then slide the Red and Black tabs back to their original
positions to lock the wire in the terminal. Be sure to match the cable color to the terminal color. If the
cables are connected incorrectly the sound will be “muddy” and “distorted”.

4. Pull lightly on the connection to make sure it is secure.
CAUTION: Only connect the speakers which are supplied with the unit. The use of any other or additional
speakers may cause damage to the unit. Never operate the unit without the speakers connected.
