Gauze-Type Air Filter Cleaning Instructions

Interval cleaning recommendations: Normally 10-12K miles or sooner for dirty and dusty
environments.

1. Remove filter. Lightly tap filter on surface to remove large debris.

2. Apply cleaner. FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ON THE AIR FILTER

CLEANER BOTTLE. Spray Air Filter Cleaner onto both sides of the air filter until it

completely saturates the pleated material. Allow cleaner to soak into air filter for 10
minutes to loosen the dirt. Do not let cleaner dry on air filter.

3. Rinse off air filter with cool low-pressure water. Allow gravity to flush dirt out of air filter

by applying water to the inside of the filter; up and down the length of the pleats.

Continue to rinse the filter until all traces of cleaner are gone. If the filter is extremely

dirty it may be necessary to repeat steps 2 and 3.

4. After rinsing, gently shake off excess water and allow filter to dry naturally. Do not oil

until the filter is completely dry. NOTE: DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR, DRYER
HEATERS OR HEAT GUNS TO SPEED UP THE DRYING PROCESS.

5. Apply air filter oil to the outside of the filter only. Using the aerosol spray can, spray an

even amount of oil along the crown of each pleat. Wait 20 minutes for the oil to be

absorbed into the filter media. Touch-up any area with oil until there is an even blue
color over the entire surface of the clean filter. Do not over oil. Once blue tint is clearly

visible on pleats, move on to another section. It is better to under oil than over. Over

soaked filter reduces performance significantly.

6. Clean filter’s inside mounting surface with degreaser such as Windex or 409. Do not

spray solution directly onto surface. Damp cleaning cloth with degreaser and wipe off
grease.

7. Reinstall filter.
