SUSPENSION/BACKPANEL
The expedition suspension featured on all Variant
Series packs consists of an HDPE framesheet and
aluminum peripheral rod that works in conjunction with
a thermoformed, contoured snowshed backpanel to
ensure a high level of comfort and load transfer with
heavy climbing gear inside the pack while also ensuring
minimal snow and ice buildup on the user’s back.

REMOVING THE SUSPENSION
The internal Variant suspension components can be removed for the alpine minimalist
looking to shave a bit of weight.

1 Undo the top pocket retention straps and flip back the top lid to gain access to the

internal backpanel of the pack.

2 Locate the hook and loop backpanel suspension compartment just above the sewn-

in reservoir sleeve and pull back to expose the HDPE framesheet.

3 Grasp the external base of the pack with one hand and the framesheet firmly with

the other and pull to remove the suspension components from the pack.

When reinserting the framesheet please ensure that the peripheral aluminum rod is
facing in the opposite direction of the pack's backpanel for proper fit.

EVA FOAM EXPEDITION HARNESS
The fi xed, contoured EVA foam harness is designed
specifi cally with stability, carry and comfort in mind. All
sewn seams are away from the body and an adjustable
sternum strap with rescue whistle buckle provides
proper torsional stability while reservoir hose routers
keep hydration accessible and at the ready.

WAND/ICE PRO POCKETS
Dual side pockets provide secure storage and easy
accessibility to wands, pickets and other longer items.
Utilize the side compression straps to secure.

FRONT PANEL COMPRESSION POCKET
A reinforced front panel compression pocket provides
external storage and access to crampons and other
items. To tighten or loosen the compression pocket,
locate the cam lock buckles found on either side of
the pack near the backpanel and unlock to access the
webbing. Slide the webbing through the buckle to the
desired length and re-lock the buckle to hold in place.
