Make sure you have not accidentally selected a port assigned to
another peripheral (e.g., a modem).

Next, check the port status.

Bad connection, ignition off, blown fuse

Make sure the OBD-II cable is firmly plugged into the

diagnostic connector (DLC), and the test tool. Verify that the ignition
key is in the

(Key On, Engine Running) position. Check the

fuses (the DLC often shares a fuse with the cigarette lighter socket).

Verify that the OBD-II cable is firmly plugged into the

diagnostic connector (DLC), and the test tool. Make sure the ignition
is on, and the engine is running.

Damaged unit

Note which of the six LEDs is lit, and contact the Support

department (see section 7, "

").
