1. Placement

MAINstage

is magnetically shielded, and can be placed close to a computer monitor or

television without distorting the image on your screen.

For optimum performance and stereo imaging, the system should be placed directly in front
of the listener. Mounting the system at or above ear level typically provides the best sound.
Use the included AngleEase

mounting hardware to angle MAINstage so the front points

directly at the listener.

Make sure there is space above, behind, and ideally at either side of the system to allow
bass to flow into the room.

2. Connections

analog 1 – i.e., Computer sound card, headphone out from radio or portable music player,
speaker level signal

analog 2 – i.e., TV tuner, Satellite or Cable (use digital if available), audio component

digital 1 – i.e., DVD, audio component

digital 2 – i.e., Satellite or Cable (if available), DVD

subwoofer output – outboard amplified sub-subwoofer

AC cord – per local country requirements

3. Operation

Master power switch
Make sure that the rear located power switch is on for use/standby operation. If the system
is unused for extended periods (i.e., vacation) it may be turned off.

Volume
To adjust the volume level, use the remote volume

and volume

Auto turn-on/turn-off
MAINstage has an automatic turn-on/turn-off feature. It will turn off
(standby mode) when the source equipment (TV, etc.) has no sound
output for approximately one minute and will immediately turn on again
when a signal is present. When in this mode, the source indicator light flashes.

Source selection
To select the source, press the Source button on the remote control, or press the control
button on the front panel of the unit. Lights on the front panel will indicate the source
selected. Repeated presses will toggle the unit through the source inputs sequentially.
Starting with the 1/8

mini jack, then the rca jacks, then the coaxial digital input, then the

optical digital input, finally the unit will switch to mute mode (indicated by no lights
illuminated), one more press will ring the unit back to the 1/8

mini jack input.

Bass/internal subwoofer level
Turn the knob on the back counter-clockwise to increase the bass, and turn clockwise to
reduce the bass level. This is reverse of normal operation, but much more intuitive when
reaching over to adjust the bass if standing in front of the unit.

1/8input jack sensitivity
To adjust the system for proper operation when using a line level signal, slide the switch to
a low position (towards the right as viewed from the back of the unit). When using a speaker
level signal, slide the switch to the high position (towards the center of the unit). When using
with a PC soundcard, you may find this switch useful…switch to high (increases signal level),
switch to low (reduces signal level/distortion threshold).

Surround
The system initially powers up with the surround feature turned on. Press the surround
button on the remote to engage or disengage the surround feature.

System reset
The MAINstage system uses sophisticated computer controlled electronics to virtualize the
soundfield and control audio functions, should the unit appear to operate erratically simply
unplug the unit from the wall outlet for a few seconds and plug it back in to reset the internal
computer to normal operation.

Mute
To select mute mode, press the mute button on the remote, or repeatedly press the control
button on the front panel until the source 1 light flashes.

Speaker protection
The MAINstage uses a state-of-the-art digital amplifier section which allows significantly
higher music peaks to be heard cleanly. If the system is played at levels that might harm the
speakers, the amplifiers will shut down to protect the speakers from damage. When the
protection system is activated, you will hear the system repeatedly mute and unmute. To
deactivate the protection system, simply turn down the volume.
