U-bolt Spart Tire Carrier

Instructions

Part #86092/86091

Instruction Sheet #08154

U-bolt tire carrier is designed to mount a spare tire on top of your trailer tongue.

1. Carrier mounts most tire/wheels up to a 15” rim with a 4, 5 or 6 hole stud pattern.
2. Carrier is designed to have the weight of the wheel on top of the tongue or frame of the trailer. It is not
designed for any side or under mounting applications on the tongue or frame.
3. Find a suitable location where the tire will lay flat on the tongue and not interfere with the loading of the
boat or with any part of the coupler or brake actuator.
4. Best location is closest to the bow of the boat so as not to increase tongue weight.
5. Set the tire on top of the tongue. Install the U-bolt tire carrier from the bottom of the trailer so that the
U-bolt wraps around the tongue and comes up through the wheel.
6. The tire should be rotated so that the U-bolt passes through two holes of the wheel where the lug nuts
would go.

For Kit #86092 with Security Brackets
7. Thread one attachment bracket on each side of the u-bolt, Thread side down.
8. Tighten each bracket so that the tire does not move and is snug on the tongue.
9. Position the brackets so that the oval holes on top are next to each other. A padlock can then be placed
in the oval hole of the brackets to aid in prevention any theft.

For kit # 86091 Without Brackets
10. Thread one hex nut on each side of the u-bolt.
11. Tighten each nut so that the tire does not move and is snug on the tongue.
