1.00 GENERAL

1.01

This installation note covers the installation and

field testing of the TII 856E Half Ringer. One unit serves
all telephones at a station.

1.02

This unit contains electronic components and

is designed to be used in conjunction with a station
protector capable of limiting surge voltages to 1000
volts. A gas tube station protector is recommended.

2.00 WARRANTY

2.01

See TII Warranty. All units are completely

encapsulated and are not repairable. If this unit fails
during the warranty period, the factory should be
requested to authorize return. Return the unit prepaid
when authorization is received. Units that fail due to
abuse or normal wear should be discarded.

3.00 DESCRIPTION

3.01

The TII 856E Half Ringer is a small,

hermetically sealed electronic module used to provide
a ringer impedance of half a normal telephone ringer.

4.00 INSTALLATION

4.01

The TII 856E is designed to fit into all TII

Network Interface housings. Install the 856E in parallel
to telco wiring at either the station protector or
customer bridge module location. TII 856E consists of
an environmentally sealed circuit board with two six-
inch color coded leads.

4.02

Locate the red and green wires that are

attached to the TII 856E and terminate them on the
station protector module or customer bridge module
Tip and Ring terminals respectively.

4.03

If the TII 856E is being installed in some other

housing, the procedure should be similar to the above.
