BORING

Your sow con ol*o be converfed io ct horizontal drill for
boring by iwitig one of the recommended chuck* end the

proper drill. For drilling hole* on on angle the radial orm
chould be |«iitioned to the dedred angle while the work is
fxiraltel to the fence. See Figure 34.

SANDING

Using the 10” sanding disc moufrted on the sow end erf the

motor, you can convert yoor sow into a lander which con be

operated In any position. The loose cottars should be used
on both sides of the sanding disc.

STABlllIING WASHERS FOR THIN BLADES

Stabilizing washers should be used with thin blades for
improved appearance of the finish cots.

HELPFUL HINTS

1. The life of the laminated saw table can be greatly length

ened if a h*“ piece of plywood is tacked to the table top
after leveling. Then all cutting con be done in the odded
ptede of plywood instead of the laminated table,

ji.

There is a possibility that during or after shipment, the

wooden front table; spacer board, or reor table might
become slightly warped, toy o straight edge across the
surface of die table and check for gaps or high spots on
the table. Any portions of the table which are not fiat

should be planed and sanded until flot. Sanding con be

done by using one of the two key chocks referred to

under '“Routing" and a Croftsmon moulded rubber 7 ’

sending disc.

3. When sanding the table top {See Figure 35) or routing

with the work stationary, the arm lock pin con be pre
vented from aulomoticafly indexing ot 0“ ond 45® by

rotating the arm lotch hondle about d turns counter

clockwise from the locked position.

4.

A scale raoy be attached to the fence to aid the oper

ator when measuring lengths during cross-cut operations.
This con be accomplished by tacking

a

yard stick to the

fence as diown. See Figure 36,

5. In the event (hot the fence is warped ond connot be

straightened by tightening the table damps proceed as
fotlov«! Remove the fence ond replace with

a

temporory

fence mode from o stroighf piece of scrap lumber. Pro

ceed to cot slots in the originol fence where the gap

between the fence and frorrt toble was determined to be
the greatest. See Figure 37 for slotting.
Reploce the fence, after slotting, behind the front toble

with the slots toword the rear ond tighten the toble

clamps

6. There are three positions in which the fence con be

located. See Figure 38.

1. Normol position.

2. Position used for maximum cross-cut on V material

and for greater bevel and miter capacity.

CAUTION

Rip scales cannot be used In this position.

3- Position used for maximum out-rip capacity.

7. An auxiliary table top for molding or shoping can be

constructed similar to Figure 39. Note the shape of the

back guide fence ogoinst which your work piece is moved.

A cut-out 5" wide should be made at the center of this
guide fence to give adequate clearance for the molding

head and cutters. Also a wider cleorance marked "A”

should be mode to allow for the radial saw motor, be
sure the front edge of the auxiliary table is parallel with
die surface of the guide fence. With the auxiliary table
top thus completed it is ready for use by merely clamp
ing if into position with “C" damps.
