TO START THE ENGINE

IMPORTANT: IF YOUR UNIT SHOWS ANY SI 3N OF
MOTION WITH THE CLUTCH HANDLE DISEN­
GAGED, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IMMEDI/ TELY.

READJUST FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
“FINAL ADJUSTMENT” IN THE ASSEMBLY
SECTION OF THIS OWNER’S GUIDE.

OPERATOR

IS

STANDING

NEAR

THE

CHIPPER-

VACUUM UNIT WHILE STARTING OR

OPERATING.

DO NOT OPERATE THIS UNIT UNLESS

THE NOZZLE, DISCHARGE CHUTE , AND

THE BAG HAVE BEEN PROPERLY

INSTALLED.

NOTE: While the engine is reaching the compression
cycle, you may hear a noise. This noise is caused by

the flails and fingers falling into place and is normal.
This noise will continue till impeller reaches full speed.

• Pull the rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm

stroke.

• Keep a firm grip on the starter handle. Let the rope

rewind slowly. Do not let the starter handle snap

back against the starter. Repeat until engine cranks
up. Prime the engine if necessary.

• Move throttle control to IDLE position for a few min­

utes to warm up the engine. Move it back when
running.

NOTE: To idle smoothly, a new engine may require 3

to 5 minutes of running at above the slow idle speed.
The idle speed has been adjusted for proper running
after this break-in period.

Attach spark plug wire and rubber boot tc spark

plug if necessary. See figure 9 for location.

Place the throttle control lever in FAST positiDn.

Push primer two or three times to start the i mgine.

Wait about two seconds between each pus h. See
figure 14. In cold weather when temperatu e is at
or below 50°F/10°C, prime five times. Ycu may

have to prime to restart a warm engine after a short

shutdown.

Place one foot on the left rear wheel to prev ent the
unit from skidding while starting.

Grasp starter handle and pull rope out slov ly until
engine reaches start of compression cycle. The
rope will pull slightly harder at this point, .et the
rope rewind slowly.

TO STOP ENGINE

• Move throttle control lever to STOP position.

• Disconnect spark plug wire and move away from

spark plug to prevent accidental starting while
equipment is unattended.

TO EMPTY BAG
Open the large zipper on the bag to empty the bag.

See figure 15. Be certairithe zipper is closed when
operating the unit.
