8000 SERIES

LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEMS

The Altec Lansing 8000 Series Loudspeaker Sys
tems are a new family of vented cabinets for the

new 3000 Series professional low frequency
loudspeakers.

The 8000 series cabinets and the 3000 series

loudspeakers were designed as integral systems to

obtain varied performance characteristics. This

'systems engineering' approach involved extensive
research to meet design goals for specific Thiele-
Small parameters that would offer the user a wide
range of choice of low frequency response, effi

ciency and compact size.

Successful completion of this development pro
gram has resulted in a family of bass reflex cabinets
from the compact 1.5-cubicfoot Model 8127, to the
24-cubic foot Model 8182, which is used for

extended low frequency response. Careful vent

design provides sufficient cross-sectional area to

achieve laminarfiowforall conditions; thisassures
proper operation even at maximum acoustic sound
power levels.

Construction of each enclosure utilizes high quality

7-ply birch-face plywood. Extensive internal brac
ing maximizes rigidity and strength. The mar resist

ant textured gray spatter finish assures high
durability.

All in all, the eight enclosures of the 8000 Series
family, in conjunction with the 3000 Series low fre
quency loudspeakers, offer the user a wide choice
of performance criteria while assuring smooth fre
quency response and low distortion at all sound

pressure levels.
