A

shly's BP-41 E Bass Preamp is a

sophisticated system with all of

its controls, features and param

eters

designed

specifically

for

contemporary bass players. It is

more

powerful,

more

versatile

and simpler to operate than any
other system.

The BP-41 E gives you a pair of switchable

inputs which allow you to connect two instru

ments simultaneously, eliminating the cum

bersome task of plugging and unplugging

during a performance. A pad is provided on

one of the inputs, facilitating the connection

of high-output instruments, such as an active

bass or a bass synthesizer.

The Gain control provides a means of

adjusting the input level to the BP-41 E, allow

ing you to match the output level of your

instrument to the nominal OdBv operating

level of the unit. The Stage control adjusts

the overall volume output of the unit to the

Crossover output and the Stage Amp output.

Clip lights for the Gain and Stage controls

indicate when the input or output signals are

too 'hot' and approaching clipping. This sys

tem gives you with the ability to generate the

cleanest signal possible.

The BP-41 E features a built-in two-way

Electronic Crossover for bass players who

prefer to use bi-amplified equipment. The

Frequency

control

selects

the

desired

crossover point, while the Balance control

determines the ratio of lows to highs being

sent to the respective drivers.

To route the signal to a mixing board, an

active, balanced Direct Output is supplied

through a 3-pin XLR (MIC or Line level

selectable) or a 1/4" TRS jack (Line level

only). A Mute Switch permits you to shut off

the Direct Output while a flashing LED

reminds you of its 'off status (Stage and
Crossover outputs remain 'on' allowing you to

tune or rehearse without being fed to the mix

ing console) and a Pre/Post switch lets you
take the Direct feed from either before or

after the EQ and Effects Loop sections.

Three types of equalization are furnished,

providing total control over your sound. A

Presence Boost switch activates a voicing cir

cuit designed expressly for the BP-41 E,
which adds both warmth and brightness to

your sound, while an LED lets you know that

it's engaged. The Equalization Section con

trols standard EQ functions. Bass, Mid and

Treble controls are peak/dip filter types, each

adjustable over a wide range and tuned to

musically useful center frequencies. Finally,

the switchable Parametric EQ is a single

band equalizer that allows you to tune your

sound with greater accuracy than fixed-fre

quency

controls.

The

Frequency

control

tunes the exact center frequency you wish to

adjust, while the Level control determines the

overall boost/cut at that frequency. A two-

position Q adjust switch changes the filter

shape from very broad to very narrow, permit

ting you to 'target' or 'notch' the selected fre

quency, or to 'smooth' around it for more

subtle control. The flexibility that this equal

ization system provides gives you the ability

to emulate virtually any sound, or to create

the sound that's just right for your unique

style of playing.

For bass players who use outboard effects,

Ashly has included a switchable Effects Loop

at the most useful spot in the signal chain;

after the preamplifier section and before the

final output section. A Send jack feeds the

input of the effects device and the Return

jack receives the output of the effects device,

inserting it into the preamp's audio chain. A

front panel Effects Loop switch controls

whether or not the loop is engaged. A rear

panel Level switch lets you set up the gain

structure of the effects loop to match your

signal processing equipment (OdBv for 'pro'

style rack mounted effects, and -20dBv for

'foot pedal' type effects).

Additionally, a gutsy built-in Headphone

output gives you the ability to privately moni

tor your performance.

The Ashly BP-41 E Bass Preamplifier is the

ultimate performance tool for all bass players

who desire professional control over their

playing environment. Plus the BP-41 E, like all

Ashly products, is now covered by our exclu

sive five-year worry-free warranty.
