Keep the safety button fully rearward in the “ON” (SAFE) position. Keep the
muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Open and close the lever several times to
check for free movement of the action assembly.

Close the lever and leave the safety button fully rearward in the “ON” (SAFE)
position. With the lever held loosely (not tight against the stock), try pulling the
trigger. The trigger should not move fully rearward and the hammer should not fall.

Keep the safety button fully rearward in the “ON” (SAFE) position. Squeeze the
lever tight against the stock and pull the trigger. The trigger should move fully
rearward. The hammer should only partially fall and not strike the firing pin. (As a
check, keep squeezing the lever tight against the stock and pulling the trigger
fully rearward. Try to push the hammer forward. You should not be able to push
the hammer forward and make contact with the firing pin).
