Step 5: Creating Users and User Role Assignments

Authenticated (or registered) users are created in the Account Management system. To create new users and assign user
roles, click on the Account Management URL in the Welcome email.

1. Login to the account management system using your user admin user name and password.

2. To create a user, under Manage Users, enter first/given, last name/surname, display name, phone number, and email.

Click Save.

3. To set user roles, select the Assign Roles tab. Select Stratus in the Product field.
4. Under Roles, select either Users or Administrators.
5. Select the user from the Roles Member list and click Add Member. This user will now be assigned as an authenticated

user.

6. The new user will be contacted via email with instructions for completing their account registration.
7. If you wish to create custom roles you can add them under Manage Custom Roles and then return to item 4 above to add users to it.

Step 6: Other Map Configuration Options

There are a number of options that you should be aware of when configuring and publishing your maps in Step 4,
some of which are highlighted below.

• Creating a Query – allows administrators to create queries for the tables associated with a specified map

configuration.

• Find My Nearest – this features provides the ability to setup various layers of objects and easily find those objects

nearest to a specified point or address. For example, find the restaurants nearest a specified address.

• International Geocoder – Status includes access to an international geocoder. You can use the system provided

address table or you can add your own address tables using the Locator Updater.

MapInfo Stratus Users

Step 7: Accessing MapInfo Stratus

To access Stratus, click on your company’s Stratus URL provided in the Welcome email.

• Distribute the URL to authenticated users.

• Internal users will be prompted to login with their user name and password.

• Public Users do not have to log in.

Step 8: Explore On Your Own

Once maps are published and available for viewing, there are a number of features that are or can be made
available to users:

• Map panning and zooming.

• Wildcard searching.

• Draw and query within a polygon.

• Query within current map view, all data or selected polygon.

• View results in a tabular grid.

• Select a row on table and highlight feature on map.

• Export the query results to a CSV file.

• Sort results (ascending or descending) by clicking any column in the table.

• View information using map marker callouts.
