™ & 41MT™ SIDE GROUND TERMINAL REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

This ground terminal replaces one of the pole shoe screws on starter models that require a ground terminal on the side of the
frame.

WARNING!!!

ALWAYS USE PROPER EYE PROTECTION WHEN PERFORMING ANY MECHANICAL REPAIRS TO A VEHICLE

INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY INSTALLATION AND OR REPAIRS TO THE DELCO REMY STARTING MOTORS.
FAILURE TO USE PROPER EYE PROTECTION CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS AND PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE.

Only perform the mechanical functions that you are properly qualified to perform. Mechanical repairs that are beyond your te chnical
capabilities should be handled by a professional installation specialist.

FOLLOW ENGINE AND/OR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY WHEN REMOVING AND INSTALLING
THE STARTER.

DANGER!!!

ALWAYS DISCONNECT BATTERY GROUND BEFORE REMOVING OR REPLACING CABLES AT THE STARTER.

FAILURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY.

PROCEDURES FOR REPLACING OR CHANGING THE LOCATION OF THE SIDE GROUND TERMINAL

1.

Remove vehicle leads connected to the starter, noting their positions for reinstallation, and remove starter.

2.

Remove and dispose of the side ground terminal.

3.

Install new side ground terminal and torque to 20.3-27.1 Nm (15-20 lb ft).

4.

If changing location of the side ground terminal, remove a pole shoe screw from the desired location and exchange places with the
parts. Check the condition of sealing features and consider replacing with new part assemblies if damaged or excessively worn.

5.

Install the pole shoe screw and torque to 20.3-67.8 Nm (15-50 lb ft).

6.

Install the side ground terminal and torque to 20.3-27.1 Nm (15-20 lb ft).

7.

Reinstall starter and connect cables and other leads, as removed.

8.

Reconnect the negative (-) cable at the battery
