FireWire Adapter Kit
CAUTION: Remove ALL power to the Data Silo/RhinoJR before installing the FireWIre Adapter
Kit. The FireWire Adapter Kit contains NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS inside
the unit. Refer ALL servicing to qualified service personnel!
NOTES: Refer to the appropriate Data Silo or RhinoJR User’s Guide for further information.
A #2 Phillips screwdriver will be required for installation.
The StorCase ® FireWire Adapter Kit will fit the Data Silo DS100 and DS320, as well as the RhinoJR chassis.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Information below applies to the DS100, DS320, and RhinoJR.
1. Disconnect ALL power and remove cables from the chassis.
2. Open the chassis to gain access to the internal cables and rear panel I/O connectors. Refer
to the DS100/DS320/RhinoJR User's Guide if necessary for information on this procedure.
3. Loosen and remove the screws securing the I/O interface(s) to the rear of the chassis.
Remove interface(s) and internal cable(s) from the chassis.
4. Install FireWire Adapter Board onto the rear of the chassis and secure with two (2) screws
(Figure 2). Install provided filler plate and secure with two (2) screws (Figure 2). Filler plate
is necessary for proper cooling inside the chassis!
5. Connect one end of the IDE Cable to the FireWire Adapter Board (Figure 3).
6. Connect Adapter Board Power Cable to the chassis DC Power Cable. Connect the 2-wire cable
to the FireWire Adapter Board (Figure 3).
7. Install drive(s)* if necessary and connect IDE and power cables to the drive and reinstall
chassis cover.
* Drives not included.
Duration of Warranty
Seven-Year Warranty: The following StorCase products are covered by this warranty for a period of seven (7) years from the
original date of purchase from StorCase or its authorized reseller: all Data Express ® removable device enclosures and all
StorCase interface cables and accessories specifically intended for use with these products. Data Silo ® , Data Stacker ® and
InfoStation ® products are covered by this warranty for a period of seven (7) years, excepting the RAID controller, power supply, fan
and blower components, which are covered by the three-year warranty described below.
Three-Year Warranty: The following StorCase products are covered by this warranty for a period of three (3) years from the
original date of purchase from StorCase or its authorized reseller: all Rhino ® JR external expansion chassis, all RhinoJR
removable drive enclosures, and all RAID controller modules. In addition, the following components of the Data Express, Data Silo,
Data Stacker, InfoStation products are subject to warranty for a period of three (3) years: all power supplies, fans and blowers.
Warranty Claim Requirements
To obtain warranty service, the defective product must be returned to your local authorized StorCase dealer or distributor, or, with
prior StorCase approval, to the StorCase factory service center. For defective product returns directly to StorCase, a Return
Material Authorization ("RMA") number must be obtained by calling StorCase Customer Service at (714) 445-3455.
