General Description

CAUTION:

The InfoStation contains NO USER SERVICEABLE parts inside the unit. Refer ALL

servicing to qualified service personnel!

This unit has more than one power supply cord. Disconnect two power supply

cords before servicing to avoid electric shock.

VHDCI connectors are easily damaged by improper handling. Visually inspect

each connector for bent contacts and carefully align prior to insertion.

NOTES:

The installation, configuration, and use of the StorCase InfoStation chassis

requires a certain level of expertise and experience on the part of the user/

integrator. Since there are many configuration options and variables (ie. host

platforms, applications, etc), only general/typical configuration guidelines will

be discussed in this User's Guide.

For installation information, refer to the InfoStation Installation Guide.

The StorCase

®

Technology InfoStation

®

intelligent 1U rack-mount expansion chassis is

designed to support the latest 2.5" SFF (Small Form-Factor) SCSI Ultra320 enterprise disk

drive technologies for use in network server, fault-tolerant and/or mission-critical applica-

tions.

The InfoStation's dual backplane design can accommodate up to ten (10) Ultra320 drives

(Figure 1) with either one (1) or two (2) channels (software configurable). Each channel

supports 320MB/sec operation. Each chassis is constructed of rugged steel and lightweight

aluminum, and is equipped with two (2) 300 watt redundant, hot-swappable power supply

modules, and two (2) hot swappable fan modules (53.6 CFM total).

The InfoStation also incorporates "Soft Start" circuitry which eliminates in-rush current to each

of the installed drives during spin-up, as well as avoid power arcing during drive insertion.
