Updating a ResponseCard

ResponseCard XR, ResponseCard NXT, ResponseCard AnyWhere and the ResponseCard Programmer can receive
firmware updates via the Hardware Updater. A mini USB cable is required for the firmware update.

NOTE

A standard 4-pin Type A to a 5-pin Type B mini USB cable can be purchased from the Turning
Technologies Student Store or at any major electronics retailer.

Close out of all other Turning Technologies applications and unplug any other Turning Technologies hardware.

Open the Hardware Updater.

Connect the ResponseCard to the PC with a mini USB cable.

NOTE

Only plug in one device at a time.

The version number will turn black if the device does not have the latest firmware version.

Select the desired language.

Click Update Firmware.

WARNING

DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE DURING THE UPDATE!

Unplug the device only after the prompt indicates that it is safe to do so.

The device now has the latest firmware.

Updating ResponseCard NXTs Over the Air

The ‘over the air’ option is useful if a large quantity of ResponseCard NXTs need updated. The over the air process requires a
RRRF-03, RRRF-04 or RRRF-03-P receiver and a minimum ResponseCard NXT firmware of 1.0.1.

TIP

Find the firmware version of a ResponseCard NXT by pressing the softkey below the Wrench icon.
Press the right arrow until Device Info appears on-screen. Press the center Enter key, then press the
right arrow.

Open the Hardware Updater.

Plug in a RRRF-03, RRRF-04 or RRRF-03-P receiver.

Click the Update NXT Devices Over the Air tab.

Verify the channel on the receiver matches the channel on the ResponseCards.

IMPORTANT

A warning message will appear if another receiver within 200 feet is on the same channel.

Click Start Update.

Press any number button on the ResponseCard NXT to begin the download.

ResponseCards updating to the new firmware appear under the Updating tab.

ResponseCards that have completed updating to the new firmware appear under the Current tab.

ResponseCards that did not successfully download the new firmware appear under the Needs Attention tab.
