PROGRAMMING DTMF CODES

1. Obtain a standard Touch Tone telephone set.

REMEMBER, DO NOT CONNECT THE TELEPHONE LINE TO THE R174A
CONNECTORS. IT WILL DAMAGE THE UNIT AND VOID THE WARANTY.
CONNECT ONLY A STANDARD TOUCH TONE TELEPHONE SET, ALONE.

2. Using a standard double-ended RJ-11 connector equipped cable, plug into the

telephone set and then into the R-174A connector for the switch to be programmed.

3. While listening to the handset, hold down the # key for 3 seconds until the unit clicks

once. Then release the # key.

4. Press and hold the * key for 3 seconds until the unit clicks 3 times. Then release the

* key.

5. Enter the number of digits (1 - 4) for the On/Off code.

If the entry is valid (1 – 4) the unit clicks once. Go to step 4.
If the entry is invalid, the unit clicks 5 times and out of the programming mode.

6. Enter the On code. The unit clicks 3 times after # of digits are entered for the On

code.

7. Enter the Off code. The unit clicks 3 times after # of digits are entered for the Off

code.

Note: There is a 3 second inter digit timer during the programming mode or entering the
On/Off code. If time out, the unit blinks 5 times and leaves the programming mode. Do
not pause for long when making entries.

YOU MAY ENTER ANY 4 DIGIT COMBINATION OF TONES FOR ON AND OFF. BUT
THEY MUST BE THE ONES THAT THE SERVICE YOU ARE USING SUPPLIES.

8. Now, unplug the telephone set from the jack on the unit, and plug in the wiring to

your audio source for the tones you will be using. Repeat this operation for the
other switches.
