1.

Blue Zilog screen not appearing after selecting COM port and screen message
displays “Time-out while reading ...”

a. check RS-232 cable connection.
b. check 19200 baud on selected COM port.
c. check if transmit/receive signals need to be swapped.

Note:

On some DB9 connectors for the COM ports, the transmit/receive signal may be

swapped and a "Null Modem" adapter may be required.

d. check if power supply can supply required current to the emulator.
e. check if power supply is set at correct voltage.
f.

check if power supply is connected and turned on.

g. after resetting emulator, you must wait 5 seconds (minimum) before running the GUI

software.

SELF TEST Failure

a. if “Register test fail” then check if target crystal labeled X1 and crystal load capacitors

labeled “C1” and “C2” are in their socket.

b. if “Monitor RAM fail” then check U4 for damage or broken/bent leads/cold solder joints.
c. if “Break point RAM fail” or “User RAM fail” then check U13, U9, and U10 for damage

or broken/bent leads/cold solder joints.

d. if depressing the emulator RESET button does not correct “SELF TEST Failure”, then

power-down the emulator, power-up again, then depress the emulator RESET button
again.

OTP Program Failure

a. reset OTP device in socket and make sure there is good contact between socket and

device leads. Reprogram OTP device.

b. check for worn socket. Replace socket if necessary.

Contention. To avoid V

contention when a separate V

CC

is supplied to target,

ensure that jumper J1 is not connected.

5.

XTAL Contention. If XTAL is used on target and J2 and J3 are installed, ensure that XTAL
is removed from emulator.
