1. Opening the packaging
Be sure to open the cardboard packaging carefully so as not
to damage the unit inside, nor the packaging. Importantly:
keep the packaging should you need to transport the
Acrylic550E in the future.

When removing the Acrylic550E from the packaging ensure
you have a firm grip around it. Remove any sharp jewellery
from your hands and wrists to avoid the possibility of
scratching the product. When lifting the Acrylic550E it may
be necessary to have someone else holding the packaging
still.

2. Handling the Acrylic550E
The Acrylic550E is quite a large, heavy product so please be
very careful when carrying it. It is also susceptible to finger-
prints. To clean the Acrylic550E use only a damp, soft cloth
with water. Do not use alcohol based cleaners as they leave a
streaky finish. Do not use any abrasive to clean the surface.

3. Positioning the Acrylic550E
The Acrylic550E is a very stable product when positioned on
a solid, flat surface. However we recommend that you
position it away from edges of display or shelf tops where
there is a chance someone could accidentally knock it over
on to themselves or someone else. If in doubt, use double
sided acrylic tape to bond the bas to the counter or shelf top.

4. Connecting the Acrylic550E
The Acrylic550E is supplied with an APU550 protection
device. This is the unit supplied with the AIW550E
loudspeaker and should be connected to the Acrylic550E in
the same way as per the supplied instruction guide. Always
use the APU550 in circuit (positioned back at the amplifier
end) when demonstrating the Acrylic550E.

5. Sound characteristics
Due to its acrylic construction, the Acrylic550E is slightly less
efficient than a plastered over AIW550E. It also reproduces
slightly deeper, lower frequencies a s a result of the
increased mass on the vibrating panel and the acrylic
construction of the product itself. Please be prepared to
explain these differences to clients in your sales
presentations to avoid future unrealistic expectations.

6. Demonstrating the Acrylic550E
Demsonstrate only at modest sound levels. Given the bass
extension possible with the acrylic unit, the exciters can be
damaged by the excursion they could see at high listening
levels.
The Acrylic550E unit itself is not designed to be played at
very loud levels. Its function is to create a visible AIW550E,
which also provides a representation of its audio perfor-
mance at ordinary ‘modest’ listening levels. The necessary
construction detail of the Acrylic unit (i.e to make it fully
transparent) means that it is not as robust as a stud wall, and
may have some anomalies (i.e buzzing) when played at loud
levels.

7. Transporting the Acrylic550E
If possible use the original packaging to transport the
Acrylic550E which has been designed specifically to absorb
transit shock. If transporting the product yourself by car be
sure to wrap it with a protective blanket and make sure it is
safely secured and cannot move about in the car’s cabin.
