5.8 Troubleshooting
This section lists potential problems with the scoreboard and indicates possible
causes and corrective actions. This list does not include every possible problem, but
does represent some of the more common situations that may occur.
Symptom/Condition Possible Cause
Scoreboard will not light ƒ Console not connected or poor connection
ƒ No power to control console
ƒ No power to the scoreboard
Garbled display ƒ Internal driver logic malfunction
ƒ Control console malfunction
Digit will not light ƒ Black wire to digit broken
ƒ Poor contact at driver connection.
ƒ Driver malfunction
Segment will not light ƒ Broken LED or connection
ƒ Driver shift register failure
ƒ Broken wire between driver and digit
ƒ Poor contact at driver connector
Segment stays lit ƒ Driver shift register failure
ƒ Short circuit on digit
Date appears in the wrong
place on the scoreboard
ƒ Incorrect address settings on drivers (consult
tables and set correct addresses)
