Operation
Operation of the access panel is highly dependent on the attached system’s software configuration. The
software is factory-created and subsequently downloaded to the system control unit via an external PC at
system start-up.
This access panel offers the standard features described below in addition to other configurable features.
The standard features include a handset used for page and party functions, an internal speaker used to
monitor page audio, an illuminated speaker mute push button used to mute the internal speaker and
indicate the current state of speaker muting, and a piezo alarm that can be activated to alert a user of a
change in system status.
Handset Communications
The handset is used for both page and party communications. Lifting the handset from the cradle creates
an off-hook condition. In a normal configuration, lifting the handset causes it to be connected to a party
line.
Speaker and Speaker Muting
The access panel’s internal speaker provides the capability of monitoring system page activity. To mute
the speaker, press and release the speaker mute push button located at the bottom of the push-button area.
When pressed, the push button illuminates to indicate that the speaker is muted. The speaker remains
muted until the speaker mute push button is pressed and released a second time. Then, the speaker
resumes normal operation and the speaker mute push button extinguishes.
Piezo Alarm
The piezo alarm is an audible indicator that is typically configured to alert an operator of a change in
system status. The exact details of the operation of the piezo alarm are configurable.
