General Information

The Hoefer

®

Mini Centrifuge is supplied with two

rotors — one for centrifuge tubes and one for 0.2 ml
PCR tube strips. The 6 place, 1.5 ml rotor is designed
to centrifuge up to six, 1.5 ml individual plastic
centrifuge tubes. It will also accept 0.5 ml or 0.4 ml
tubes using the adapters supplied with the unit.
Adapters are available separately for 0.2 ml tubes.
The tube strip rotor is designed to centrifuge two
8 × 0.2 ml tube strips. It will also accept up to 16
individual 0.2 ml tubes. Both rotors are designed
for applications requiring relatively low g-forces,
such as microfiltration, cell separation and quick
spin downs from the walls of tubes. Please read this
manual thoroughly before attempting to operate the
centrifuge.

Exchanging Rotors

The centrifuge is supplied with two interchangeable
rotors. The rotors are easily exchanged using the Allen
wrench provided. Locate the setscrew on the rotor
shaft below the rotor head. Using the wrench, loosen
the setscrew and pull up on the rotor to remove. Place
the other rotor into position on the motor shaft. Take
care not to press the rotor down so far as to compress
the rubber collar at the base of the shaft. Tighten the
screw using the Allen wrench until it is just tight. Do
not over tighten as this will cause damage to the rotor
and the motor shaft.
