PRECAUTIONS IN COLD WEATHER

STORAGE

After each use in the winter, be sure to remove the mud and the other foreign substances adhering to the

body, as such substances, if they freeze, can cause breakdowns and other problems. Then park the unit

on concrete or on hard, dry ground. (In extremely cold regions, it is effective to lay railroad ties, etc.

under the crawlers, at a right angle to the body).

Moreover, if parts of the unit freeze, making driving impossible, do not force the unit to move. Instead,

use normal or hot water to melt the frozen parts.

Please wait until the melting is complete before driving. (If you move the unit by force, resulting in an

accident, please be aware that the operator will be held responsible).

Following the information in the “Crawler tension adjustment” section, loosen the crawler tension

bolts.

Inspect each part and make any necessary adjustment.

Clean each part with a cloth soaked in oil. Oil all moving parts. Then store the unit in place with low

humidity.

Put planks or something similar under the crawler.

Put the deadmanʼs control clutch lever in the OFF position.

Concerning the engine

Put several drops of engine oil into the opening where the ignition plug will be installed, turn the

crank axle several times and install the ignition plug. Stop the crank axle with the pistons in the com-

pression position.

If gasoline is left in the carburetor for a long time, it will deteriorate and, as a result, the engine will

not start properly and will also develop irregular turning. Accordingly, before long-term storage, ex-

tract the fuel in the carburetor and the fuel tank. Also, avoid using gasoline that has been stored for a

long time or that has been in a plastic tank.
