INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Feed-thru Cord Switch 5406
READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
Suitable for:
16/2 SPT-2, 18/2 SPT-2, 18/2 SPT-1,
18/2 SVT (round flexible cord), and cords up to 9/32"
maximum diameter.
Important: Turn circuit breaker OFF or remove fuse(s)
and test that power is off.
Important: Use copper wire only. Do not tin conductors.
1. Cut and strip black wire (round SVT cord) or smooth
wire (flat SPT cord) as shown below. Do not cut insula-
tion from white wire (round cord) or ribbed wire (flat
cord). Ensure that white wire (round cord) or ribbed wire
(flat cord) is routed through bottom channel inside switch
cover. (See Figure 1, Figure 2)
2. Loosen the strain relief clamps and insert wires through
clamps.
3. Twist strands together and wrap 3/4 turn clockwise
under the heads of the screws and tighten securely.
No loose strands. (See Figure 3)
4. Tighten strain relief clamps securely.
5. For large cords, carefully cut out the holes at the ends
of the housing. (See Figure 3)
6. Ensure that white wire (round cord) or ribbed wire
(flat cord) is routed through bottom channel inside
switch cover. (See Figure 3)
7. Assemble the cover, and tighten screws.
Must be installed and used in accordance with
electrical codes.
