1.INTRODUCTION
In purchasing the XXL OCTOPLUS, you have acquired a professional Balancer /
unbalancer / Splitter unit of the high-end class which meets all the demands and
requirements of studio and live works. The OCTOPLUS is an easy-to-use piece of
equipment that is able to solve a lot of daily problems, both in Studio and in Broadcast
or live applications. In all these situations, in fact, you always need to balance or
unbalance an audio signal to send it to another unit or to receive it in the best form from
another source. All these features are supplied by the OCTOPLUS, but not only these;
all the input jacks, are in fact connected in Multi-link way. This special feature allows the
splitting of one or more signals into several output signals without the using of any kind
of switch; each time you plug a jack in an input connector of the OCTOPLUS you
automatically break the link with the previous channel. With this very simple function it is
possible to have a lot of input/output combinations; 1 to 8, 2 to 4+4, as well as 2 to 3 +
5 or 2 to 2+ 6 or 2 to 1+7. All these possibilities are available just changing the input
jack position on the front panel, and are all shown in the user manual. The new
generation 9.5” rack frame makes this unit very small and smart and it is possible to fit it
both in half rack boxes and in standard 19” rack just using the adapter supplied.
1.1 High Technology
Our experience in the field of professional studios drove us to design OCTOPLUS, an
incredible small size eight channels professional device that is able to give answer to all
the demands in Studio, Live, broadcast and TV applications. All the electronics is
assembled directly on PCB with no wires use, it means less possibility of malfunction.
All the internal IC are 4580, ultra High quality Operational Amplifier that allow high
current output with very low noise threshold. All the outputs are protected in order to
guarantee safe operating conditions in every situation. All the inputs and outputs are
balanced, in this way you can have the best matching conditions with the other
machines. The choice of having the external power supply ensure professional features
with minimum noise, and allow you to drive the OCTOPLUS also with an external
optional battery pack to use the unit also without the presence of main power AC.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Packaging
XXL carefully pack in the factory all its units and the packaging was designed to protect
the unit from rough handling. Nevertheless, we recommend that you carefully examine
the packaging and its contents for any signs of physical damage, which may have
occurred in transit.
