INSTRUCTIONS
1. Begin by jacking up the rear of the car and place jack stands under the frame rails
to support the vehicle. Then place the jack under the rear axle housing.
2. On the driver's side, loosen and remove the bolt/stud securing the bottom of the
shock to the rear axle housing. The hardware can be discarded.
3. Install our mounting clevis through the lower shock mount on the rear axle
housing. Then install a flat washer and a Nylock® nut on to the stud and make the
nut snug using a 3/4” socket. Do not fully tighten, just make it snug at this time.
4. Install the bottom of the shock into our mounting clevis. Applying some grease on
the shock bushing faces and inside of the clevis makes it slide in easier. When the
bolt sleeve in the shock bushing lines up with the bolt holes in our mounting clevis,
install one of the supplied 1/2” bolts and a Nylock® nut.
Fitment Notes: Our mounting clevis is designed for a shock that has a 1.25” wide
bushing and a 1/2” diameter mounting bolt. If the shock you are installing does not
have a bolt sleeve installed through the bushing (common on factory stud mounts)
you will need to purchase and install our Part# LSM-SBS-500 shock bolt sleeves.
These sleeves are 5/8” o.d. x 1/2” i.d. x 1.25” long.
5. Using a 3/4” wrench on the nut and a 3/4” socket on the bolt head, torque the
lower shock mounting bolt to 80 ft./lbs.
6. Using a 3/4” socket tighten the nut on the mounting clevis' stud to 80 ft./lbs.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 on the passenger's side.
8. Safely lower the car to the ground. Installation is complete.
