Front Strut Mount - 1982-1992 GM F-Body
Removal and disassembly
I. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the wheel and tire
assembly.
2. Remove the brake hose bracket from strut assembly.
3. Remove the strut to knuckle bolts, washer and nuts.
4. Remove the nut from the upper end of the strut.
5. Remove the strut and shield.
6. Remove the three strut mount nuts and discard the mount.
Assembly and installation
I. The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, using the
new strut mount and recommended new hardware.
2. Torque to OEM specifications.
3. Tighten the upper strut nut to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.). Use new strut to
knuckle bolts, washers and nuts. Tighten the strut-to-knuckle nuts to
170 Nm (125 ft. Lbs.), followed by a 120 degree turn. Final torque
must NOT exceed 200 Nm (148 ft. Lbs.).
4. Check and adjust alignment.
