SCALEKLEEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR STEAMERS WITH EXISTING

EVERPURE FILTER

1. Remove and discard the existing Everpure filter cartridge from the

steamer.

2. For a small steamer (less than 10KW or 100,000 BTU’s), use

two 2.2 lb. (two kilogram) packages of ScaleKleen. For a large

steamer (greater than 10KW or 100,000 BTU’s), use four 2.2 lb.

(four kilogram) packages of ScaleKleen. For regularly scheduled

maintenance, reduce these quantities in half.

3. Remove the top plug assembly from the Everpure JT Cartridge.

NOTE: The JT Cartridge is designed to hold a maximum of one 2.2

lb. (one kilogram) package of ScaleKleen.

4. Cut one corner of the ScaleKleen package, and pour the contents

directly into the JT Cartridge. Once the ScaleKleen is in the

cartridge, carefully reinsert the top plug assembly.

NOTE: Ensure that the plug assembly is seated to the lugged outer

cap. If not, placement of the JT Cartridge into the head will be

hindered.

As an alternative, you can dissolve one 2.2 lb. (one kilogram) package

of ScaleKleen in warm water. Carefully pour the solution into the JT

Cartridge. Repeat this step until all of the solution has been used.

5. Insert the filled JT Cartridge into the head assembly, and turn the

shut-off valve to the fully opened position.

6. Flush the cartridge for a minimum of 1 gallon (a flow rate of 0.5

GPM would require 2 minutes) to transfer the ScaleKleen into the

boiler tank to be de-scaled.

7. Turn the steamer on. Once the steamer reaches operating

temperature, allow 30 minutes for the ScaleKleen to remove the

scale, then turn the steamer off.

8. Blowdown (flush) the boiler until the pH of the effluent is within one

pH unit of the incoming (influent) water.

9. Once the steamer has been flushed out, it can be placed back into

service.

10. After all de-scaling has been completed, remove the JT Cartridge

and install a new Everpure filter cartridge.

SCALEKLEEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRIP COFFEE MAKERS

1. Remove and discard the existing Everpure filter cartridge.

2. For coffee makers brewing one pot (1/2 gallon) per cycle, use

one 2.2 lb. (one kilogram) package of ScaleKleen. For regularly

scheduled maintenance, reduce these quantities in half.

6. Remove the filter basket and spray head, then dump the coffee

grounds from the machine. Place the spray head in the target

coffee pot.

7. Cycle the coffee maker once, vending one pot. Let it sit for 30

minutes. The spray head in the pot will also be cleaned.

8. After 30 minutes, cycle the coffee maker with 10 pots of fresh

water. This will flush the ScaleKleen from the boiler and water

lines. After the tenth pot, check the pH of the hot water. When

the pH of the hot water is within one pH unit of the incoming cold

water, the ScaleKleen is flushed out. Reassemble the spray head to

the coffee maker.

NOTE: If there is a hot water tap available, flush one pot through to

de-lime tap.

9. Once the coffee maker has been flushed out, it can be placed back

into service.

10. After all de-scaling has been completed, remove the JT Cartridge

and install a new Everpure filter cartridge.

CAUTION: In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse thoroughly

with water. Avoid prolonged contact with stainless

steel surfaces. Contains salt which may cause surface

discoloration. Spots may be removed with a mild scouring

agent.

IF USING PH TEST KIT

1. Using one test strip, test and record the pH of the incoming water.

2. Using one test strip, test and record the pH of the product water

flowing from the de-scaled appliance.

3. When the pH of the outgoing product water is within one pH unit of

the incoming water, the ScaleKleen has been sufficiently flushed

out and the appliance can be placed back into service.

NOTE: Flushing the appliance with fresh water will raise the pH of

the product water.
