Additional Functions of ADVC-HDM1

Thank you for purchasing this product. With the version upgrade of ADVC-HDM1, this leaflet explains about additional
features of this product. Please read this carefully along with the “ADVC-HDM1 User’s Guide” attached to this product.

Add low-delay encoding mode

With the combination of our high-definition network transmission system, HDCS-3000S/3000R, delay time from input by
ADVC-HDM1 to video output from HDCS-3000R has been shortened than ever before.

How to set up (for HDCS-3000S)

1. Start “Web console” and click [Local settings] to open the [Local settings] window.
2. Choose [Enable] of [ADVC-HDM1 low delay mode] of [1. System] section.

* Restart the HDCS-3000S to activate this setting.

How to set up (for HDCS-3000R)

1. Start “Web console” and click [Local settings] to open the [Local settings] window.
2. Specify [Buffering time] of [4. Monitor] section as [150msec].

How to set up (for ADVC-HDM1)

1. Set DIP switch SW4 which is on the rear side of ADVC-HDM1 to [ON].

* In case the bit rate of ADVC-HDM1 is set with HDCS-3000S, be sure to set all the DIP switches from “SW6” to “SW8” to [ON].

2. Reconfigure the encoding mode of ADVC-HDM1 with one of the following way.

- Restore power

- Reset the settings (Press [Reset] button on the front side more than three seconds)

- Switch to the decode mode and then switch to the encode mode again

Notes

- MPEG2 Stream of low delay encoding does not apply to HDV specification even if all the DIP switches from “SW5”

to “SW8” is set to [OFF].

- This mode works only with the combination of HDCS-3000S/3000R (of which firmware version is later than 1.4.0).

Only HDCS-3000S/3000R supports this low delay playback function.

- When video bit rate of is set by remote from the local settings page of HDCS-3000S, turn all the DIP switches from

SW6 to SW8 [ON]. After the settings of the DIP switches are changed, be sure to reconfigure the encoding mode as
written above.

- Video pictures may be interrupted frequentry due to increased retransmission by TCP protocol. Set buffering time

a little bit longer in such a network environment.

Restrictions

- When DIP switch SW4 is set to [ON], the decoding mode will be set as low delay setting and this mode will be able

to decode (play back) MPEG2 Stream of low delay encoding mode only.

- In the mode which uses the RS-422-AV/C command conversion function explained in the next section, video transfer

in the combination of HDCS-3000S/3000R does not operate properly. Be sure to confirm the “Controller Port” has
been selected (The state that LED for RS-422A port turns on.)
