Painted Finish Cleaning Instructions

IMPORTANT: This supplement to your Polaris ATV Owner’s Manual should remain with your owner’s manual

at all times.

General Information

Your Polaris ATV has a painted finish, which requires a different type of cleaning and polishing than unpainted

plastic components. We recommend that you clean and polish the finish of your ATV as outlined in this

supplement.
S

Do not use medium to heavy duty compounds on the painted finish.

S

Do not wax the finish until the paint has dried for 120 days.

S

Always use clean cloths and pads for cleaning and polishing. Old or reused cloths and pads may contain dirt

particles that will scratch the finish.

Basic Cleaning

1. Wash the surface with warm water and a mild car wash type of soap.
2. Wipe the surface dry with a clean, lint-free cloth or towel.

Polishing

1. Use commercial finishing polish (shake well before using).
2. Apply a thin ribbon of polish to work over no more than a 2-3 foot square area.
3. Use a clean foam pad or terry cloth to spread the polish over the work area.
4. Maintain a variable speed buffer or an orbital polisher at 1200-1800 rpm, keeping the polisher/buffer moving at

all times.

5. Overlap each pass by about 50%.
6. As the polish begins to dry, stop polishing.
7. Wipe off any excess polish with a clean, soft cloth.
