Keel Guide Kit for 9500 - 15000 lb.

Aluminum Trailers

The

TA0119 keel guide is designed to fit the 9500 & 150TAL alu-

minum trailers. It is used for offshore boats and boats with deep

strakes that run the full length of the boat. It is designed to catch

and carry the keel of the boat during loading and unloading so it

don’t contact the front cross member of the trailer. This allows the

bunk or roller system to be moved outward to better support the

boat during transport.

The keel guide is designed for loading and unloading only. The

weight of the boat will be carried by the bunk or roller system once

the boat is properly positioned on the trailer.

Assembly is as follows:

1. Remove the hardware bag and sort all items by size.

2. Move the front bunk or roller system on the trailer outward so

there is room to install the keel guide kit.

3. Remove the plastic protector from the front cross member.

4. Locate the two keel guide mounting plates and the four keel

guide mounting straps.

5. The keel guide mounting plates will be attached to the rear side

of the front and middle cross member of the trailer using the

following process.

6. Place four 3/8” x 4 ½” hex bolts through the holes provided in

one of the keel guide mounting plates. Place the assembly onto

the rear side of the front cross member so two of the bolts will

be on the top side of the cross member and two on the bottom

side. Slide a keel guide mounting strap over each pair of bolts

just installed. Secure with 3/8” flat washers and 3/8” nylon lock

nuts. Tighten only to hold the assembly in place until instructed

to tighten later.

7. Repeat step 5 on the middle cross member.

8. Place the left keel guide support weldment with the plastic at-

tached onto the top of the two keel guide mounting plates just

installed. Align the hole in the top of the keel guide mounting

plate with the mounting hole on the bottom side of the keel

guide support weldment. Attach the two together using 3/8” x

1” hex bolts and 3/8” nylon lock nuts.

9. Repeat step 7 pm the right keel guide support weldment. Once

both sides are installed, tighten the bolts securing the keel

guide support weldments to the keel guide mounting plates.

10. Center the keel guide on the trailer cross members.

11. Tighten all bolts to secure the keel guide to the cross mem-

bers.

12. Reposition the bunks or roller system of the trailer to properly

support the boat. It is recommended that they be positioned

away from the centerline of the trailer enough so they are to the

outside of the strakes. Note that the weight of the boat will be

carried on the bunk or roller system and not on the keel guide.

13. Assembly is complete.
