Replacing an Ink Cartridge

The printer’s indicator lights will inform you as described
below when it is time to obtain a replacement ink cartridge and
when it is time to replace an empty cartridge.

Note:
If you need to replace an ink cartridge when the

black or

color ink

out light is off, see “Ink Cartridge Problems” on page 10-32.

EPSON recommends the use of genuine EPSON ink cartridges.
Other products not manufactured by EPSON may cause
damage to your printer not covered by EPSON’s warranties.

When the

ink out light is

flashing

obtain a replacement black ink cartridge
(S020108).

replace the empty black ink cartridge.

When the

flashing

obtain a replacement color ink cartridge
(S020089).

replace the empty color ink cartridge.

Note:
When the color ink cartridge is empty, the printer can continue to
work using only black ink. To print with black ink only, see “Printing
with an empty color ink cartridge” on page 9-8.

Caution:

Once you open the ink cartridge clamp, the ink cartridge
becomes unusable and cannot be reinstalled even if ink remains.

Leave the old cartridge installed in the printer until you
are ready to replace it with a new one.
