AK2020 is designed to indicate the moisture content of timber in the range 8 to 22%, with colour coded ranges for

readings taken on plaster or brick.

p WARNING! Always replace the probe cover after use to prevent injury, damage to the probes and shorting.
2.1.

Battery

2.1.1. Slide off the battery compartment cover, in the rear of the unit.

2.1.2. Connect a 9V type MN1604 (06LR61) battery (not supplied) to the terminal pad.

2.1.3. Place the battery in the compartment and replace the cover.

2.1.4. Replace the battery when the Low Battery LED (B) is illuminated.
2.2.

Operation

2.2.1. Remove the probe cover (A) and stow on the end (E) of the unit.

2.2.2. Slide the side-mounted switch (D) to the On position. The Power LED (C) will illuminate.

2.2.3. Press the two probes into the material to be tested and note the reading on the LED scale (F).

2.2.4. Switch off the unit and replace the probe cover after use.
2.3.

Readings

2.3.1. When used on the timber the percentage scale should be used.

2.3.2. When used on plaster, brick or similar materials read the colour codes as follows:

Blue - Air-dry, OK.

Yellow - Slightly damper than air-dry, investigate.

Red -

Excessive moisture, indicating a damp problem.
