INTRODUCTION

2.1.1

Used in conjunction with a press, this unit crushes filters and removes most of the oil
and sludge, which drains into a suitable oil disposal container. Crushing filters
minimises the cost of disposal of hazardous waste by volume. The crusher unit is
suitable for Ø38mm (1.5”) ram presses, with optional adaptors which enable use with
Ø50mm and Ø60mm rams.

2.1.2

The adaptors OFCA50 and OFCA60 enable the crushing unit to be used with a wide
range of bench and floor presses. Refer to Fig.1.

2.1.3

Applications of OFCA50 include Sealey presses YK10B, YK10BLG, YK10F, YK10FLG
and YK20, and other presses with a Ø50mm ram.

2.1.4

Applications of OFCA60 include Sealey presses YK10BM, YK15BLG, YK15FM, YK30,
YK30FAH, YK30FAHFP, YK30 FM, YK50FAH, YK50FM and other presses with a
Ø60mm ram.

Familiarise yourself with the applications, limitations and hazards of the crushing unit.

Maintain the unit in good condition (use an authorised service agent).

Replace or repair damaged parts. Use recommended parts only. Unauthorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.

Keep the crushing unit clean for best and safest performance.

Locate the crushing unit in an suitable working area. Keep the area clean, tidy and free from unrelated materials, and ensure there is
adequate lighting.

WARNING! Always wear approved eye or face protection when operating the crushing unit.

Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings, and other loose jewellery, and contain long hair.

Keep hands and body clear of the work table when operating the press.

!

Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.

Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.

DO NOT operate the crushing unit if any parts are missing as this may cause failure and/or possible personal injury.

DO NOT use the crushing unit for a task it is not designed to perform.

DO NOT operate the crushing unit when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.

When not in use release pressure from the pump and clean the crushing unit.

3. OPERATION

3.1.

DANGER! For safety reasons, always ensure that the crusher unit and the press tools are

secured on the table and will not flex or suddenly “give way” causing danger to the operator or

damage to the crusher unit. Ensure you have read the safety instructions at Section 1.

NOTE: Oil filters should be drained before being crushed.

3.1.1

When placing the crushing unit onto a press, ensure that the unit is fully supported across
the full width of it’s base, i.e. utilising V plates or similar (see Fig.4 overleaf).

3.1.2

Connect one end of the drain hose to the filter crushing unit and place the other end in a
suitable oil disposal container.

3.1.3

Place the disused filter, shown at Fig.2, in the crushing unit, mounting face down. The
hatch is spring-loaded and so will close automatically on release.

3.1.4

Check that the press hydraulic unit is fully closed ready for use.

3.1.5

Position the filter crushing unit at the required operating height by inserting the support
pins into the appropriate holes in the press main frame.

3.1.6

Attach the crushing plate, shown at Fig.3, to the ram and place the crushing unit and
filter beneath the plate. Refer to Fig.5 overleaf.
