INSTRUCTIONS FOR:

REAR BUSH INSTALLATION TOOL

(vw golf Iv, audi a3)

2.1

Introduction:

Suitable for the in-situ installation of the rear axle mounting bushes on selected vw and audi vehicles. Use with ratchet wrench

or spanner to insert composite bushes.

Application: Audi A3, VW Bora, Golf IV.

WARNING! Familiarise yourself with the specific applications and limitations of the bush replacement tool, as well as any

potential hazards.

This tool should be used in conjunction with inspection maintenance procedures recommended in the vehicle manufacturer’s

manual.

ensure that the bush installation tool is the correct tool for the task.

Oil threads liberally before use.

ensure that the vehicle is properly supported with axle stands before working under the vehicle.

ensure there is adequate lighting prior to using the bush installation tool.

a range of inspection lamps is available from your local Sealey dealer.

Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the working area.

DO NOT use this tool with an impact wrench

DO NOT use the bush installation tool for any purpose other than that for which it is designed.

DO NOT use the bush installation tool if any parts are damaged or missing, as this may cause failure and/or personal injury.

DO NOT use the bush installation tool when you are tired, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.

IMPORTANT: Refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s service instructions, or a proprietary manual, to establish the current

procedure and data.

3.1

Having correctly supported your vehicle as detailed in your vehicle handbook, remove the rear wheels to gain access to the

rear bushes.

3.2

Undo and remove both rear axle front mounting bolts.

3.3

Pull the front end of the axle down and secure in position by chocking with a suitable wedge (solid piece of wood etc) between

the axle and the vehicle underside, (ensure it is secured and will not slip).

3.4

drift out the old bushes taking care to note the original position of the bushes.

3.5

Oil the vS722 threads and fit a new bush onto the installation tool and assemble through the trailing arm as shown in Fig.1.

3.6

align the mark on the new bush with the mark on the axle trailing arm.

Note! Use a piece of chalk etc. to mark the top of the shallow cup, aiding alignment of the bush and axle marks.

3.7

Use a ratchet wrench or spanner to slowly turn nut a, pulling the new bush into position as shown in Fig.2.

3.8

when bush is in place disassemble and repeat operation for the second bush.

when complete follow guidance in your vehicle’s handbook to re-assemble axle.
