2. INsTRUCTIONs

Caution! Airbags and pretensioners contain explosives and can be dangerous if not handled

correctly. Work on airbag systems should be carried out by a trained and competent person.

WARNINg! Ensure Health & Safety, local authority, and general workshop practice regulations

are adhered to.

Explosive devices are subject to national laws which must be followed. these include

requirements on storage and transportation.

observe component manufacturer’s instructions for safety, handling and installation/removal.

store removed explosive devices in a locked area away from other hazardous materials.

DO NOT expose systems to temperatures above 80°c.

WARNINg! use only diagnostic testers to diagnose faults. DO NOT use multimeters or test

lamps etc. on active airbag (srs) systems, as this may cause accidental deployment.

Disconnect all explosive devices before checking wiring with a multimeter.

Caution! Always refer to manufacturer’s instruction before working on airbag (sRs) systems.

Designed for the safe removal of steering wheel airbags. suitable for use on Audi, BMW, Mercedes,

seat, skoda and Volkswagen vehicles.

Ensure ignition is switched oFF and remove key from ignition.

Never use a memory saving device.

Disconnect the battery leads.

Wait at least 30 minutes after disconnecting the battery leads before working on the system.

When fitted, lock pretensioners.

Never attempt to repair airbag wiring or components.

Never use analogue test meters or test lamps on active airbag (srs) systems, as this may

cause accidental deployment.

When working on deployed airbags

Always wear gloves and eye protection when working on deployed airbags because chemical

residue can cause skin irritation. skin that comes into contact with a deployed airbag should be

washed with soap and water immediately.

Re-arming

Before re-arming make sure the vehicle is unoccupied.

check correct operation of airbag (srs) warning lamp.
