2 Installation Procedure

Be fore you procee d w i th the ins tal la tion, pl ease re ad the foll ow ing c hapter !

Note1: For Windows 98SE please make sure your copy of windows is fully updated with the

latest hotfixes by going to

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Note2: For Windows XP or Windows XP SP1, please update your windows with the following

hotfix

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-u s%3B 822603& x=10&y=13

if your copy of Windows XP has been updated with Service Pack 2 (SP2), you do not
need to apply this hotfix.

Note3: The following installation was operated in Windows XP. (Procedures are similar for

Windows 98SE/ME/2000)

Note4: If you have installed the Wireless PC Card driver & utility before, please uninstall the

old version first.


This chapter describes using the Atheros installer to install the Atheros USB

wi reless network adapter dri ver.

Installation

Im portant N ote : (For Windows 2K /XP) Please e ns ur e that the USB
a da pter is plugge d into the c om puter be fore starting the insta lla tion
pr ogram !!! (For Windows 98 SE, do not plug in the dev ic e be fore s tarting
the ins ta llation progr am)!!!

To insta ll the A CU a nd USB dev ice drive r:

1. Fo r Windo ws 2k/XP insert the USB device into the com puter, (for windo ws

98SE do not insert the devi ce), and insert the installation CD.

2. Open the InstallShield Wizard (setup2k.exe for Windows XP/2000 a nd

setup98.ex e f or W indows98SE/ME).

3. The Atheros Client Installation installer opens. Click Next.
