For displays without error codes, download of data to laptop will indicate codes occurring.

ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTICS

0

Improper couple. Review
coupling procedures and repeat
coupling attempt.*

Error appears on tractor
startup. ELI senses that the
locks are closed, but does not
sense a kingpin.*

Check kingpin sensor and/or lock sensor
and fifth wheel throat. Kingpin sensor
may be bad, or too far from the kingpin.
Lock sensor may be sensing something
other than the lock. Check for presence
of metal near the lock sensor.**

Error appears on tractor startup.
ELI senses the kingpin, but
does not sense that the locks
are locked.*

Check lock sensor and/or kingpin
sensor and fifth wheel throat. Locks
may not be engaging properly, or are
out of adjustment. Kingpin sensor
may be sensing something else. Lock
sensor may not be sensing properly.**

Check the kingpin sensor and for
improper couple.**

Error appears after two or more
coupling attempts. ELI did not
sense the kingpin before the
locks closed.*

Check the lock sensor and for
binding in the lock mechanism.**

Check the kingpin sensor and for
presence of the kingpin.**

Check the lock sensor.
The handle is pulled as part of
normal uncoupling procedure.**

ELI sensed the kingpin, but did not
sense the locks closing within 1
second of the kingpin engaging the
locks. Service fifth wheel.*

ELI senses that the kingpin has been
missing for more than five seconds.
Check kingpin position.*

ELI senses that the lock is open
and the kingpin is still present.
This appears when the handle is
pulled as part of a normal
uncoupling procedure.*

Error appears on tractor startup.
ELI senses a proper couple, but
remembers it wasn’t properly
coupled the last time it was
shut down.*

Check the kingpin and/or the lock
sensor. Check for binding in the
lock mechanism.**

Check the kingpin sensor and for
presence of the kingpin.**

Error appears after two or more
coupling attempts. ELI sensed the
kingpin come in, but lost the
kingpin when the locks closed.*

IMPORTANT: Follow the steps in the procedure below if an error code

and/or redlight appears while operating the vehicle.

PROCEDURE

1. Pull over as soon as possible following normal safe driving procedures.

2. Perform a visual inspection referring to the Operating Instructions

included with your fifth wheel.

3. If the visual inspection indicates that the fifth wheel is properly coupled.

A.

Report the incident per your company’s procedures.

B.

Continue driving.

4. If the visual inspection indicates an improper couple.

A.

Report the incident per your company’s procedures.

B.

Recouple referring to the coupling procedures in the
Operating Instructions included with your fifth wheel.

An improperly coupled tractor and trailer
may separate while in use which, if not avoided,

could result in death or serious injury.
