If you remove the CY-14R-T/CY-12C-T

Do not place or store the unit in a location where an object

might contact the edge sensor, or where pressure might be

applied to the edge sensor.
Such conditions will cause malfunctions.

Mounting on the Stand

1.

Use a commercially available drum key to tighten

the stopper bolt.

* This step is not necessary if you’re using a Roland-made stand that is

equipped with a stopper.

The stopper keeps the V-Cymbal from turning, preventing

the tangling of cables on the stand.

Stopper

Bolt

Tighten the bolt

with a commercially

available drum key.

Attach the stopper

so that the bolt is on

the right-hand side,

from the performer’s

perspective.

2.

Attach the V-Cymbal, while positioning it so the

Roland logo is located on the side opposite the

performer.

Cymbal nut

Felt washer

Position the Roland logo

on the opposite side of

the playing area.

3.

Tighten the included felt washer and the cymbal

nut to obtain the desired movement.

* If you are using a Roland-made stand that includes a felt washer and

cymbal nut, use the felt washer and cymbal nut that are included with

the stand, and do not use the felt washer and cymbal nut that are

included with the CY-14R-T/CY-12C-T.

* Double sounding may occur if the cymbal nut is loose.

4.

Secure the cables in place with the cable tie, and

leave some slack in the cables to ensure they are

not pulled by the movement of the V-Cymbal pads.

Leave some

slack in the

cable.

1.

Be sure to make this

small plastic hook

visible from you.

Wind a cable tie around

a cable.

2.

Wind a cable tie around

the pipe and tighten it in

order to not to slip.

Insert

the small

plastic hook to

a hole to secure

the cable to the

cymbal arm.

Secure the cable in place with the

cable tie.

* Take care to ensure that the cables do not touch the V-Cymbal pads

and/ or the stand. A cable touching a V-Cymbal pad or a stand may

cause double sounding or other incorrect operation.

Connecting to a Drum Sound Module

Using the included connection cable, connect the V-Cymbal to

the drum sound module.

* Use the supplied connection cables (stereo) to make the connections.

If mono cables are used, edge shots, bell shots, and choke play cannot

be supported.

Connect the L-shaped plug of the included cable to the

V-Cymbal pad.

About three-way triggering (CY-14R-T only)

The CY-14R-T can take advantage of your percussion sound

module’s three-way triggering functionality to allow you to play

bow, bell, and edge separately.
Connect the two outputs BOW/BELL and BOW/EDGE to the drum

sound module at the same time.
For details on the connection method and settings, refer to the

owner’s manual for your drum sound module.

* If you won’t be using the three-way triggering functionality, connect the

BOW/EDGE OUTPUT jack (not both) to your drum sound module.

Recommended Parameter Settings

These are the recommended values for the trigger parameters

when using the CY-14R-T/CY-12C-T with various drum sound

modules.
If the “PAD TYPE” or “TRIG TYPE” of your drum sound module

provides a “CY14RT” or “CY12CT” setting, choose either of those

settings.
If “CY14RT” or “CY12CT” is not one of the available values, refer to

the support information on the Roland website.

http://roland.cm/trigger_prm

You may need to adjust the trigger parameters depending on

how you’ve mounted the CY-14R-T/CY-12C-T and the location at

which you’ve installed it.
For details on editing refer to the owner’s manual of your drum

sound module.

Bow shot

This is the technique of striking the bow.
It corresponds to the sound of the “head-side” of the connected

trigger input.

Nuance changes depending on the strike location

* Strike location information is

received only when plugged into

the specified input on a Roland

sound modules (such as the TD-27)

that are capable of the positional

detection feature.

Bell shot (CY-14R-T only)

* Bell shots are possible when the connection is made to BELL output.

This is the technique of striking the bell.
Striking the bell area will produce the bell sound of the

connected trigger input.

Making the Settings

Playing Method

The response to various playing methods depends on the drum sound module. For details, refer to the owner’s manual of your drum

sound module.
