Windows 98
Commands

Introduction

All application windows in Windows 98 share common
commands. For example, the upper right corner of each
window will feature three command buttons: minimize,
maximize (or restore), and close.

Maximize

Minimize

Close

Minimize

An application window can be minimized, removed from
the visible screen without closing or exiting the program.
When an application's window is minimized, the applica-
tion program continues to run; however, it is not visible
on the screen.

Minimizing some programs can improve overall system
efficiency. For example, an Internet FTP (File Transfer
Program) application may be downloading a file from a
remote Internet site.
