Using the Wireless LAN
Your HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 Series can connect to an
802.11b Wireless LAN (WLAN) or connect directly to other
WLAN-enabled devices.
Learn the Terms
It is recommended that you become familiar with the following
terms as you begin to use WLAN technology.
WLAN Terms
Term Definition
Profile A collection of defined WLAN settings.
Wireless Access Point The access point provides a wireless connection
to a network (additional hardware).
Infrastructure This connection mode uses wireless access points
to connect to networks.
Ad hoc This mode does not use access points. It is used
in peer-to-peer network communications. All
peers must be configured on the same channel.
