Storage Procedure

Keep heat, sparks, and flame away.
Handle fuel only outdoors.
Wipe up spills immediately.

Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.

You can be burned or seriously injured when handling fuel.

DRAIN SCREW

Drain the carburetor and the fuel sediment cup.

Change the engine oil (see page 43).

Remove the spark plug, and pour about a tablespoon of clean
engine oil into the cylinder. Crank the engine several revolutions to
distribute the oil, then reinstall the spark plug.

Slowly pull the starter grip until resistance is felt. At this point, the
piston is coming up on its compression stroke, and both the intake
and exhaust valves are closed. Storing the engine in this position
will help to protect it from internal corrosion.

Once a month, recharge the battery (see page 54).

Use a screwdriver to loosen the latch and open the left side
maintenance cover.
Loosen the carburetor drain screw.
Drain the gasoline from the carburetor into a suitable container.
Tighten the carburetor drain screw.
Drain the fuel sediment cup (see page 48).
Close the left side maintenance cover.
