CPU operates at higher-than-stated frequency when

operating below power and thermal design points

of Control

1.

Off: CPU operates only at rated frequency

2.

Automatic: OS requests higher perf state, CPU determines turbo

frequency (recommended)

3.

Manual:

User can manually disable cores (reboot required) via BIOS

Less cores means more likely turbo will happen
