Basic Operations (Playback)

minor noise or interference on the screen. This is normal.
After 1 minute in PAUSE mode, the VCR automatically switches to STOP mode to protect the tape.
If noise bars appear on the TV screen during PAUSE mode, first set the VCR to SLOW mode by using the
SHUTTLE dial and then press the CHANNEL up or down button to minimize the noise bars.
If the screen jitters during PAUSE, press the CHANNEL up or down button to minimize it.
To resume play, press PLAY or PAUSE again.

If you press the DISPLAY button when viewing a videocassette, the display, as shown, appears for several
seconds so you can see the functions of the number buttons on the remote control.

The above functions always work when you are viewing a videocassette even if the display, as shown, is not
displayed.

Frame Advance
While in PAUSE mode during playback, press 6 button to view the video one frame at a time. Press PAUSE to
resume play.

Skip Playback
While playing back your tape you can skip forward by pressing the 6 button. The tape will search ahead for
about a minute and then resume playing.

Slow Motion
To slow the playback speed, press PLAY then press 4 button.
Use the CHANNEL up or down button to minimize any visual noise bands on the screen.
After 1 minute in slow motion playback, the VCR will stop the tape automatically to prevent damage to the tape
and the VCR.
To return to playlback at a normal speed, press PLAY. To stop the tape, press STOP.

Viewing the On-Screen Display

Switching between the Clock, Time Counter and Time of Remaining Tape
Press DISPLAY while the on-screen display is displayed. The on-screen display switches in the order below
together with the VCR's display.
On-Screen Display Examples

Displaying the Time Counter
The time counter keeps track of how many hours, minutes and seconds the tape has run.

Press DISPLAY. The time counter will appear on the TV screen and in the VCR's display.

The linear time counter operates only if there is something recorded on the tape.
The counter changes to 0:00:00 when the tape is ejected.
