Safety

If not used properly this product can be dangerous! This product can cause serious injury to the operator and others,
the warnings and safety instructions must be followed to ensure reasonable safety and efficiency in using this product.
The operator is responsible for following the warning and safety instructions in this manual and on the product.

Explanation of Symbols on your product

Warning

Read the user instructions carefully to make sure
you understand all the controls and what they do.

The use of eye protection and a hard hat is
recommended to protect against objects
thrown by the cutting parts.

Do not operate in the rain or leave the
product outdoors while it is raining.

Switch off! Remove plug from Power Pack
before adjusting, cleaning or if cable is damaged.

Warning:- This product has not been
designed to provide protection from electric
shock in the event of contact with overhead
electric lines.

ENGLISH - 1

General
1. Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these

instructions to use the product. Local regulations may
restrict the age of the operator.

2. Only use the product in the manner and for the

functions described in these instructions.

3. Never operate the product when you are tired, ill or

under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicine.

4. The operator or user is responsible for accidents or

hazards occurring to other people or their property.

5. Keep bystanders away. Do not operate whilst people,

especially children or pets are in the area.

Preparation
1. Always wear suitable clothing, gloves and stout

shoes. The use of safety glasses and a hard hat is
recommended. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery which can be caught in moving parts.

2. Thoroughly inspect the area where the machine is to be

used and remove all wires and other foreign objects.

3. Before using the machine and after any impact, check

for signs of wear or damage and repair as necessary.

4. Never attempt to use an incomplete product or one

with an unauthorised modification.

Use
1. Keep the work area clear. Do not start cutting until

you have a clear work area, secure footing and a
retreat path from falling branches

2. Use the product only in daylight or good artificial light.
3. Know how to stop the product quickly in an emergency.
4. Remove plug from Power Pack before passing

product to another person.

5. Avoid operating while people especially children are nearby.
6. Whilst using the product always be sure of a safe

and secure operating position.

7. Keep hands and feet away from the cutting means at

all times and especially when switching on the motor.

8. Do not use stepladders whilst operating the product.
9. Remove the plug from the Power Pack:-
-

before leaving the product unattended for any period;

-

before clearing a blockage;

-

before checking, cleaning or working on the appliance;

-

if you hit an object. Do not use your product until
you are sure that the entire product is in a safe
operating condition;

-

if the product starts to vibrate abnormally. Check

immediately. Excessive vibration can cause injury.

-

before passing to another person.

10.Do not use in the rain or expose to damp or wet

conditions.

11. Do not force the Sabre Saw, it will do the job better

at the rate it was intended.

12.Always carry the Saber Saw in the off condition with

finger off the switch.

13.Keep the chain sharp and at the correct tension for

better and safer performance.

14.Disconnect the Power Pack when not in use, before

servicing and changing accessories and
attachments, such as chain and guard.

15.Guard against kick back. Kickback may occur when

the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or
when the wood closes in and pinches the blade in the
cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning
fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back
towards the operator. Pinching the cutting chain along
the top of the guide bar may push the bar rapidly back
towards the operator. Either of these reactions may
cause you to lose control of the product, which could
result in serious injury to the user. The following
precautions should be followed to minimize kickback.
1) Grip product firmly with both hands when the
motor is running. Use a firm grip with fingers and
thumbs incircling the Sabre Saw handles
2) Do not over reach
3) Keep a proper footing and balance at all times
4) Do not let the nose of the guide bar contact a log,
branch, ground or other obstructions
5) Use devices such as special guide bars that reduce the
risks associated with kickback, as fitted to your product.
6) Only use replacement bars and chains specified
by the manufacturer

Maintenance and storage
1. Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the

product is in safe working condition.

2. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only

indentical replacement parts.

3. Be careful during adjustment of the product to

prevent entrapment of the fingers between moving
blades and fixed parts of the machine.

4. After use the product should be stored using the

chain cover provided.

Adjusting the Cutting Chain Tension

• Ensure that the Sabre Saw is switched off and

disconnected from the Power Pack

• Check the cutting chain tension before each use.
1. Pull the cutting chain away from the guide bar.(P) The gap

should measure approx 2-3mm

2. To adjust the tension, slightly loosen the hex socket

head bolt (R) with the hexagon drive tool provided.

3. The gap will automatically be adjusted to the correct

measurement by the tension adjusting spring (N2)

4. Tighten the hex socket head bolt, ensuring the gap

measurment is correct.

Lubricating the Cutting Chain

• Ensure that the Sabre Saw is switched off and

disconnected from the Power Pack

1. Lubricate the whole of the cutting chain before each

use, using the lubricating oil provided. (S)
